He is also the second highest Six hitter next to Chris Gayle of West Indies in IPL. At the age of 18, Raina got his break in ODI for Indian Cricket sqaud in 2005 against Sri Lanka. Though his debut in test team happened in 2010 against the same opponent. Raina holds the record of hitting century in all formats of gentleman's game. He was also in Playing eleven when Indian team Lifted World Cup of 2011.His journey in team India was on and off till Ganguly was the skipper. Sometimes Mohammed Kaif replaced him and sometimes he was called as replacement for injured Sehwag.In the very first ODI, Raina was bowled by Spin legend Muttiah Murlitharan. In his debut series he was able to score meagre 37 runs with a poor average of 12.33, So he got ousted from the team. After the ouster of Ganguly from team India, Raina got a call for 2006 tour of Pakistan where in one match he guided India to a successful run chaseAgain in 2006 ICC Champions Trophy, he had to warm bench because of his poor form. His luck turned right away from IPL, with his strong batting in all the matches he was once again in the limelight and became first choice for the selectors of team India. He got selected in squad for 2008 Asia Cup and On 25 June 2008 Raina scored his maiden hundred against Hong Kong in just 66 balls becoming the second fastest century maker in Indian Cricket history. In next two matches, he scored 84 off 69 balls against Pakistan and 116 off 107 balls against BangladeshSuresh Raina won man of the match award consecutively three times in that series and since then, Raina has been a member of India's full-strength ODI and T20 team.
