He established himself as an all-rounder in the historic 4-0 home Test series win against Australia in February–March 2013 by taking 24 wickets.
His seven-wicket haul including a five-for in the second innings of the final Test match earned him the Man of the Match award too. He played an important role for India in lifting the ICC Champoins Trophy 2013.
Though he could not manage too many wickets in the recently concluded bilateral series against Zimbabwe ,but still he was frugal in terms of economy rate. He took 5 wickets in 5 matches at 34.40 and economy of 3.51.
