Less than two seasons after he first played with a leather ball, he was bowling against the likes of Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman in the Duleep Trophy.
He joined Vidarbha in the Plate League of the Ranji Trophy. On 3 November 2008 Yadav made his first-class debut for Vidarbha against Madhya Pradesh in the 2008–09 Ranji Trophy and took 20 wickets at 14.60 in four games.
