With speculations rife that he has replaced Yuvraj Singh as Kings XI Punjab captain for the third edition of the Indian Premier League, Sri Lankan wicket-keeper batsman Kumar Sangakkara on Sunday said he is yet to be contacted by the team owners on the leadership issue.

"Kings XI have not really spoken to me on anything yet. I don't know whether there is anything concrete there or not. I will have to wait and see," Sangakkara said on the eve of the third One-dayer against India on Monday.

According to media reports, Sangakkara has been named as the new captain of Kings XI Punjab for the March 12 to April 25-slated Twenty20 extravaganza after coach Tom Moody expressed his dissatisfaction over Yuvraj's level of commitment.

Moody is said to have had complained to the owners of the franchise about Yuvraj's attitude, saying he constantly ignored the team management's advice.

Asked whether he is open to captaining the IPL side if offered, Sangakkara said, "I don't know whether Yuvi (Yuvraj Singh) is not going to captain this time around or not. When they do speak to me I will have to make a decision."

Yuvraj led Kings XI in the first two editions of the IPL. While Punjab team reached the semi-finals in the first season, it finished a disappointing fifth in the second edition held in South Africa earlier this year. PTI
