Islamabad:Pakistan fast bowler Junaid Khan has been ruled out of the one-day international series against Australia due to a right knee injury.
Khan's injury further depletes Pakistan's bowling resources. Front-line spinner Saeed Ajmal is suspended because of an illegal bowling action, and allrounder Mohammad Hafeez injured his hand in practice in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.
Khan hurt his knee in practice at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Monday, and the Pakistan Cricket Board says in a statement on Wednesday that an exam showed the left-arm fast bowler needed at least four to six weeks of rest.
Another left-arm fast bowler, Sohail Tanvir, will replace Khan in the one-day squad.
Pakistan lost the one-off Twenty20 by six wickets on Sunday, and lost the first of three ODIs on Tuesday by 93 runs at Sharjah. The second game is on Friday.
