Rahane along with Bhuveneshwar Kumar showed great tempermental skills when at one stage India were looking to fall below 200 after team India was reduced to 128 for six. But Rahane along with Kumar first steadied the Indian innings and then shifted gears to take the attack back to the England bowlers.
The pitch was not at all a batting paradise unlike Nottingham but a real challenge for the batsman. Rahane at first got settled in the middle and tried to get accustomed to the line and length of the English bowlers. Rahane reached his second test century the same way he got to his fifty, with a drive through the covers.
Rahane's style of play was also appreciated by none other than the ‘wall' himself Rahul Dravid who in a post match chat has said “Great technique. Great exhibition of skill, temperament, talent. He brought everything today,” Rahane who got his first century at Wellington where he scored 118 runs and now 103 runs at Lords.
Rahane showed the glimpses of his skill and temperament at the Durban test where he scored 96 runs and missed out on a opputunity to score his first test hundred which he ultimately got at Wellington in New Zealand.
Rahane who has made 18 first-class centuries in Ranji Trophy before turning out for India in Test, knows how to build an innings.
