New Delhi: Team India which is looking to find alternatives for the batting quartet of Sachin, Sourav, Darvid and Laxman who have been the core of Indian batting side for more than a decade finally seems to find the proper heir.
Cheteshwar Pujara seems to be the new wall for Team India and Virat Kohli had the responsibility filling in the shoes of the legend Sachin Tendulkar. But Team India was looking for someone who could fill in the boots of the stylish Hyderbadi batsman VVS Laxman.
Laxman who had knack of batting with the tailenders and take team India to safety every time whenever the team received early setbacks. Laxman was an elegant and wristy batsman and proved to be a thorn to the opposition bowlers who want to run through team India's tail. Cricket pundits initially felt that Rohit Sharma would be an automatic replacement for VVS Laxman but the Mumbai batsman was not able to live upto expectations.
It was another Mumbaikar Ajinkya Rahane who seems to make the number six slot his own. After months of sitting on the bench and traveling with the Test squad, Rahane got his debut in Delhi in March 2013 against Australia.
Ajinkya Rahane who got his second test century at the Mecca of cricket when team India needed it the most. India were in a spot of bother after team India lost its top order for just 113 runs. Rahane came to crease when the score was 113/4.
