New Delhi, May 17:  The main "go-between" S. Sreesanth and the bookies was Sreesanth's acquaintance Jiju Janardanana, said the Delhi Police Commissioner Neeraj Kumar.

Let's find out who is Jiju Janardanan.

Jiju, an all-rounder, used to play for Ernakulam Cricket Club four or five  years ago.

Sreesanth used to play from the same club. They had both played together too, and had also attended the MRF Pace Foundation in Chennai.

That's when the two came closer. Jiju, who hails from Thalassery, was born and brought up in Gujarat where he played most of his cricket.

It was on Wednesday night when Sreesanth and Jiju Janardanan along with their "escort girls" came out of the RG's disco that Delhi Police sleuths stopped both of them.  The policemen allowed both the women to go, and took Sreesanth and Jiju in their cars.

Sreesanth's first reaction was "Oh, No!".

Media reports say, Sreesanth's mother was not very happy about his son's friendship with Jiju. She has now blamed Jiju for the trouble her son is in.

Jiju got along well with his teammates despite his weak Malayalam speaking skills, said a former player.

Though he was selected for Kerala Cricket Association XI in one of the matches of the Moin-ud-Dowla Gold Cup against the Hyderabad XI played in 2009, he never managed to get selected to the Kerala Ranji Trophy squad. He also played for the State under-25 team.

After failing on the field, Jiju returned to Gujarat last year, with a no-objection certificate from Kerala Cricket Association.

He turned up for selection trials of Rajasthan Royals in Jaipur but didn't make it.

A media report said Jiju was  trying to get  back to the Ernakulam Cricket Club when the scandal occurred.
