IPL 7: Worst playing XI of the UAE leg

New Delhi: The seventh edition of Indian Premier League is about to finish its UAE leg and will resume in India from May 2nd. It has not been a roller costar ride particularly for batsmen as grounds of UAE did not suit stroke playing cricketers because of low and slow wickets. Even big names in the bowling department failed to deliver. No wonder some big names cut a sorry figure considering their reputation. We present to you the combined list of 11 such players who may be termed as the worst performers so far in IPL 7.Here's the list1) GAUTAM GAMBHIR (KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS)Indian opener who has been sidelined from Team India was eying this IPL as an entry pass to the national squad. But he had his worst start in the IPL ever. His top score in the four games he has played is just one. His dismissals have not been freakish; they've just been typical of a man out of form and clearly under pressure. After three ducks in a row, Gambhir tried to regain form by dropping himself in batting order but even that did not help. Although he scored a convincing score of 45 in 44 balls against Rajasthan Royals in their last UAE leg match but that was not enough to win the match. 2) MICHAEL HUSSEY (MUMBAI INDIANS)The leading run scorer in IPL last year Hussey has just failed to repeat the magic again this year. Mumbai Indians batsman managed scores of just one and 10 in the last week. Even against the Delhi Daredevils, he failed to get going. 3) AB de VILLIERS (ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE)The South African batsman who is known for his unusual shots had a tough time in this IPL. Other than unbeaten 45 against Mumbai Indians, he managed just 11 against Kolkata and was dismissed for a duck and 17 against Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab. De Villiers is one of the most prolific run scorers in world cricket, and this is probably nothing more than a brief slump. 4) FAF DU PLESSIS (CHENNAI SUPER KINGS)The proteas skipper may be unlucky to be included in Worst XI despite his team is performing well. Although Du Plessis managed a few starts (24 against Delhi and 20 against Mumbai), he hasn't managed to convert those starts just yet. He also scored a duck and 7 against Sunrisers and Rajasthan.5) YUSUF PATHAN (KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS)Just a blink of eyes and you'll see Pathan walking out of the field. In his two games from last week, he scored a duck and three. He is another player who has the ability to be completely destructive but hasn't quite found that fire this season yet. Poor shot selection against Bangalore and a misjudgment of his shot against Punjab led to his undoing. He was dropped from the side in their last UAE leg match against Rajasthan Royals. 6) GEORGE BAILEY (KINGS XI PUNJAB)George Bailey managed just 17, 10, 11 and 16 in his four outings for Kings XI, and his dismissals were less than glamorous. As Punjab captain, more is expected of the Australian.7) ALBIE MORKEL (ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE)Albie Morkel's performances have been completely underwhelming. Although he took one for 21 against Kolkata and only had a chance to face five balls, he flopped against Rajasthan. With Bangalore in trouble at 17-5, Morkel had a chance to show why some have previously rated him as one of the best finishers of the game. Instead, he poked around for a tentative seven off 13 balls before smashing the ball straight to mid-off for an easy catch.8) ASHOK DINDA (ROYAL CHALLENGERS BANGALORE)Ashok Dinda has had a bad start to the season. In his first outing, he conceded 51 runs. He pulled it back in his next match, taking one for 14, but that was two weeks ago. He managed to bag only 2 wickets in 5 matches. He got his second wicket of the tournament against RCB where he gave 19 runs in 3 overs.9) UMESH YADAV (KOLKATA KNIGHT RIDERS)Umesh Yadav started IPL 7 with taking one for 40 against RCB and he followed it up with none for 28 against Kings XI, figures which can probably be considered mildly successful considering the batting power of Kings XI. But this performance was just not enough to keep him in the side in the last UAE leg match against Rajasthan Royals as he was replaced by Piyush Chawla.10) AMIT MISHRA (SUNRISERS HYDERABAD)The hero of India's World T20 campaign in Bangladesh, but perhaps the UAE's conditions have just been unhelpful for him. He conceded 56 runs in his spell against Kings XI, and things have not gotten much better since. He took no wickets in the two games he played last week and conceded 38 and 27 respectively.11) MOHAMMAD SHAMI (DELHI DAREDEVILS)Mohammed Shami had a tough time in the five games he played. He started off with figures of one for 30 and 33 against RCB and KKR respectively and then conceded 45 for 1 against CSK and ended in UAE by conceding 36 runs twice against Hyderabad and Mumbai with no wickets.
