New Delhi: Injury was the last thing pacers Praveen Kumar and Irfan Pathan would have needed as both have been ruled out of India A's three-match one-day home series against the West Indies A due to injuries. It is a big set back for the pacers as both are trying desperately to make it into the senior team.
Praveen and Irfan will be replaced by 23-year-old Punjab fast bowler Siddharth Kaul and Karnataka's Vinay Kumar.
"PK and Irfan ruled out of the India A team for the one-day games vs WI ‘A', due to injuriesr," tweeted the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Saturday.
BCCI also tweeted that Kerala cricketer V.A. Jagadeesh has been added to the India A squad for the second and third four-day games.
"Jagadeesh has been added to the India ‘A' squad for the second and third four-day games against West Indies ‘A'," added BCCI.
West Indies A will play India A for three one-day, one Twenty20 and three four-day games from Sep 15 to Oct 12.
Left handed bat Yuvraj Singh will lead the side in the one-day and T20 matches while Saurashtra batsman Cheteshwar Pujara will lead India A in the four-day series.
