New Delhi, Mar 18: England pacer Ajmal Shahzad who has sustained a hamstring injury is the latest English cricketer to return home after Kevin Pietersen and Stuart Broad.
According to a media release issued by the ICC, its Event Technical Committee approved the name of Surrey medium pacer Jade Dernbach as a replacement for Shahzad for the remainder of the tournament.
The confirmation was conveyed to the England and Wales Cricket Board on behalf of the committee on Friday. Shahzad suffered a hamstring injury in a training session in the build-up to his side's Group B match against the West Indies yesterday.
Dernbach who was in the provisional 30-member squad couldn't make the cut into the final 15 and was touring with the England Lions squad in the Caribbean. PTI
