“Sangakkara will not take further part in the series,” Sri Lanka team manager Charith Senanayake told The Associated Press and that Sangakkara could need four to six weeks to recover.
Sangakkara was hit on the little finger of his right hand by Ashok Dinda while on 24. He went on to top score with 73 at R. Premadasa Stadium as Sri Lanka piled up 286-5 but did not return to field.
India won the match by five wickets to take a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.
