Johannesburg, Jan 23: Cricket South Africa says batsman Hashim Amla's fitness will not be risked in the final one-day international against New Zealand on Friday.
CSA has withdrawn the right-hander from the game because of a right thigh strain -- when he was 50-50 to play -- and will allow him to rest ahead of the upcoming three-test home series against Pakistan, which starts on Feb 1.
South Africa said left-arm spinner Robin Peterson was also unavailable for the final game against the Black Caps in Potchefstroom because of split webbing on his right hand.
South Africa trails 2-0 in the three-game series and faces a rare home series whitewash.
Fast bowler Dale Steyn was recalled to the squad on Wednesday while Dean Elgar was added as batting cover for Amla.
