Durban: Perfect day for South Africa as they frist restricted India from taking big lead and then started their first inning beautifully without losing any wicket. South Africa were 82/0 at stumps on day 2 of the 2nd test match being played here on Friday.
Proteas opener G Smith 35* and Alviro Peterson 46* jointly scored 82 runs for opening stand and were there at the crease at the close of play.
Earlier on day 2, South African spearhead Dale Steyn sliced Indian batting line up with his six wickets to bowl out India for 334 on the second day of the 2nd and final test on Friday.
After a three-hour rain delay, Steyn took three wickets in 10 balls at the start of the day and another three after tea to pull India back from a big total after it was 181-1 overnight.
Steyn started his wicket taking with an outside edge of Cheteshwar Pujara's bat to remove him for 70 and end a 157-run overnight partnership with Murali Vijay. South African pacer also had Vijay for 97 and Rohit Sharma for a first-ball duck.
Ajinkya Rahane resisted for a first test half-century, but Steyn returned to dismiss another three Indians in the space of seven balls.
