Nagpur: In yet another successful run chase, India beat Australia by 6 wickets in the 6th ODI in Nagpur on Wednesday. The series is level with 2 wins for each team.
Facing a target of 351, Virat Kohli struck an unbeaten 115 with 18 boundaries and a sixer, while Shikhar Dhawan decimated Aussie bowling by making 100 before being clean bowled by Faulkner.
Opener Rohit Sharma contributed 79 runs with three sixes and seven boundaries. India made 351 for 4 with three balls remaining in the alloted 50 overs.
Earlier, Australia, after put in to bat by India, did not get off to a good start losing Hughes(13) and Finch(20) early. Now it was left to Watson and in form captain Bailey to steady the innings which both did with style.
Bailey, who is leading the side in the absence of Michael Clarke who could come to India because of back problem, continued to enjoy this tour with yet another brilliant display of consistent batting. Baily made 156 off 114 ball studded with 13 fours and six sixes. This is his highest score in ODI.
Watson too played his part and made 102 off 94 ball with 13 fours and three sixes. Watson was looking dangerous when in one over of Shami he hit him for three consecutive boundaries but eventually Shami clean bowled him on fourth ball.
For India Ashwin and Jadeja shared two wickets each.
While chasing the target, the opening pair for India Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma jointly put India at a comfortable position in a match with their 178 runs opening partnership.
Rohit Sharma fell for 79 to Aaron Finch's delivery in the 29th over.
Shikhar Dhawan scored run a ball century and after scoring century he got clean bowled by Faulkner on the very next ball.
Virat Kohli then tore apart Aussie bowlers scoring quick-fire century. Virat Kohli scored 115 off 66 balls and was given Man of the Match for his performance.
The 7th ODI and the final match of the series will be played on 2nd November 2013 at Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangaluru.
