Mumbai: Sachin Tendulkar finally stepped out to bat in his 200th and last test here to take India to second day ensuring India lose no more wickets as Host made 157/2 in first inning in reply to West Indies 182 all out on day one of the second and last test of the series. India are 25 runs behind.
Sachin came when India lost two quick wickets in Shillingford's one over after reaching 77 for no loss post tea.. Dhawan was the first to go as he tried play against the spin and gave a catch to Chanderpaul at third man. Dhawan who was in full flow, made 33 off 38 balls with seven fours.
At the same score India lost their second wicket when Vijay was caught by Sammy off Shillingford. He took 53 balls for his 43 which included eight boundaries.
Sachin, who received a roaring reception from the crowds and the players, showed his experience and class to add 80 runs for 3rd wicket with Pujara, Sachin remained not out on 38 off 73 balls with six hits to the fence and Pujara also remained not out on 34 off 49 balls with four boundaries.
Shillingford was the only bowler who took bothe wickest giving away 46 runs in his 12 overs.
Earlier in the morning India won the toss and elected to field first. The decision paid off as West Indies were bowled out for 182 in the first inning on day one of second and the last test against India here. Ojha sliced through the West Indians batting line up, taking five for 40 in 11.2 overs.
West Indies continued their pathetic show with their batting after losing Kolkata test by an inning and 51 runs.
A lot was expected from Chris Gayle who has a reputation of big hitting but once again he failed to live up the expectations and perished just when there were 25 runs on the board. He contributed 11 runs. He was caught by Rohit Sharma off Shami's delivery.
Bravo and Powell tried to consolidate the inning and put on 61 runs before Bravo was consumed by Ashwin for 29. this was the big inning. West indies went to lunch 93/2.
Collapsed started after lunch after Powell (48) departed. Soon after his dismissal, Samuels, who was in all sort of trouble, finally became spinner Ojha's first of five victims. He faced 59 balls for his 19 runs.
Chanderpaul, who is playing his 150th test, too could not stay for a long and was consumed by Ashwin. He made 25 which includes a six with which he opened his account.
Deonarine resistance lasted till 162 and after that three West Indian batsmen including captain Darren Sammy, went back to pavilion without scoring.
After Ojha five wicket haul, it was Ashwin who took 3/45 in his 15 overs. Shami and Kumar took one wicket each.
