Earlier West Indies won the toss and elected to bat first in the first of two test series that see the glimpses of legend Sachin Tendulkar who will retire from International cricket after second test at his home turf in Mumbai.
The first damage was caused by Shami who had Powell caught by Bhuvneshwar while trying to hook a short delivery. He made 28 off 40 balls, hitting four boundries and one six.
Next to go was danger man Chris Gayle who became victim of Bhuvneshwar Kumar. He made 18 off 32 ball with four hits to the rope.
