IND vs SA - 3rd T20

IND vs SA 3rd T20, Highlights: India win by 48 runs after impressive bowling performance

The men in blue have won the match by 48 runs. After lacking venom in the first two T20s, India's bowling department staged a great comeback to deny South Africa a series win with 2 matches remaining. The Caravan now moves to Rajkot. Until then, this is Kartik Mehindru, signing off.

  • SA 115/7 after 17 overs: The men in blue have killed the chase with a very impressive bowling performance. Whenever SA looked to break free, Harshal or Chahal spoiled their party. Just about time now.
  • SA 71/5 after 11 overs: India have taken the steam out of SA's batting order. There is no Miller or Dussen this time to rescue them. Unless someone plays a dramatic inning from hereon, this is India's match to lose now. Chahal and Harshal have been fantastic. They would now want to close it nice and early.
  • SA 38/2 after 6 overs: So far, India has kept South Africa in check. Hendricks was looking dangerous but got him at the end of Powerplay. SA will need to consolidate now. Important phase of the game ahead. India wouldn't want to get complacent, SA, on the other hand, would like to keep an eye on the run rate while taking limited risks.
  • SA 2/0 after 1 over: With an LBW appeal first up, Kumar is swinging the ball all around leaving the South African batters clueless

  • IND 179/5 after 20 overs: Alright, India were 128-2 in 13 overs, and they finish with 179 after 20. Quite an anti-climax this, and the Indian batters wouldn't really be happy with their performance. But it seemed towards the end that the ball was just holding up a bit.

Can India restrict SA to stage a comeback?

  • IND 148/4 after 17 overs: Quiet few overs. Pant and Hardik were trying to hit, but the ball wasn't just coming on the bat nicely. Pant failed to impress again, and this is getting all too familiar now. Let's see what DK and Hardik can come up with in the last 3 overs.
  • IND 133/3 after 14 overs: In a bid to hit everything out of the park, Ishan and Shreyas Iyer have gone back to the hut. Hardik and Pant are the crease, and India will hope that they stay until the end. And if that happens, 220 will be well within India's reach.
  • IND 97/1 after 10 overs: Good captaincy from Temba. Got Maharaj into the attack and he has sent the dangerous Gaikwad back. But what an innings this was from Ruturaj. Certainly, one to remember. India are placed in a pretty great position right now, and they would like to continue the momentum going towards the business end of the innings. 220-230 looks pretty gettable from here on, and by the way their bowlers have performed so far, they need a bit of extra cushion.
  • IND 48/0 after 5 overs: Carnage! Absolute Carnage from Gaikwad. He hit 5 consecutive boundaries to Nortje in the 5th over and has completely dismantled him. It would have been six fours had Gaikwad not missed the cut shot on the last ball. Phew! He is in some touch..
  • IND 22/0 after 3 overs: Both Kishan & Ruturaj are itching to go big. SA have been on point with their bowling so far, finding plenty of edges. IND needs to be careful not to be too attacking from the word go, and as I type it, Ruturaj has smacked Rabada for a brilliant six over deep mid-wicket. Brilliant pick-up shot.

India Playing XI

Ruturaj Gaikwad, Ishan Kishan, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant(w/c), Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik, Axar Patel, Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Yuzvendra Chahal, Avesh Khan

South Africa Playing XI

Temba Bavuma(c), Reeza Hendricks, Dwaine Pretorius, Rassie van der Dussen, Heinrich Klaasen(w), David Miller, Wayne Parnell, Kagiso Rabada, Keshav Maharaj, Tabraiz Shamsi, Anrich Nortje

  • Both teams have gone in unchanged.
  • South Africa have again won the toss and again, India will bat first.
  • Pitch Report: The outfield is cushy, soft and lush green. Straight boundary is long compared to the sides. The spinners have got a lot of purchase before it looks a much better pitch tonight to bat on. It sounds firm. Don't think this will be a low-scorer. 170-180 could be a par total. It's a little overcast and if it stays that way we may not have that dew.

  • Hello and Welcome to the live blog of India vs South Africa - 3rd T20. I am Kartik Mehindru, and I'll be taking you through all the updates. The men in blue will have to make a strong comeback at Vizag if they wish to keep their hopes of winning the series alive. South Africa, on the other hand, will look to gain an unassailable 3-0 lead and close out the series with 2 matches remaining.
  • Will India look to make any changes? Will Umran or Arshdeep make their debuts tonight?
