Birmingham: India humiliated England after winning the fourth ODI by nine wickets at Edgbaston here Tuesday and lead the 5-match series by 3-0 to go into the last match with a chance to whitewash the series.
After bowling out the hosts for a pitiful 206, India openers Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan mercilessly hit England's bowlers around the ground to race to the target in the 31st over.
Rahane made 106 from 100 balls, his first ODI century, and was out 24 runs from victory. Dhawan smashed unbeaten 97 off 81 deliveries, as India scored 212-1.
Dhawan smashed Harry Gurney back over his head for six to secure the series win, with the last match set for Headingley on Friday.
This is 8th consecutive victory for India in England and with this skipper MS Dhoni also becomes the most successful Indian ODI captain with 91 wins in 162 ODIs beating Azharuddin's record
Earlier, India bowled England out for only 206 in less than 50 overs setting India a comfortable target of 207 to secure one-day series victory.
England lost Alastair Cook for 9, Alex Hales for 6 and Gary Ballance for 7 inside eight overs to be stranded on 23-3. A partnership of 80 between Joe Root and Eoin Morgan took the hosts past 100 before Morgan fell on 32 and Root top edged Suresh Raina to debutant Dhawal Kulkarni for 44.
Mohammed Shami trapped Jos Buttler on 11 but Moeen Ali offered resistance with 67 from 50, before Ravichandran Ashwin bowled him.
Chris Woakes was run out for 10, Ravindra Jadeja bowled Stuart Finn before Shami ended the innings by clean bowling Harry Gurney.
