IND vs AUS 3rd ODI Highlights: India lose by 21 runs, go down 1-2 in series

And Australia have defeated India in the 3rd ODI by 21 runs. They win the series 2-1 as India lose for the first time after winning 7 consecutive ODI series at home. This was a nail-biter as the pendulum swung between both the teams. Australia first got off to a decent 269-run total on a pitch that seemed a bit slow at times. India were always in the chase, especially when Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya were playing. But after the fall of those two batters, it went away from the hosts. Jadeja could not play his shots and was outclassed soon. Shami's short cameo inspired some hopes but it was way too much as India got bundled for 248. It was pleasure bringing this to you, I Varun Malik sign off. Ta, ta.

Shami inspired some hopes with a four and a six but has been bowled by Stoinis.

And Zampa has got the final recoganised Indian batter Jadeja. India all in trouble and stare a defeat now. Kuldeep and Shami at the crease. 

So, we are in the final 10 overs. India need 54 off 42 balls and Jadeja and Pandya are out in the middle.

Meanwhile, Pandya and Jadeja are leading India well. 71 runs are needed in 66 balls and these two hold the key for India.

Oh my God! Kohli and Suryakumar are gone. Another golden duck for SKY and this is his third in the series. What's going? This was pitched on short of a length and stayed low as Suryakumar looked to play off the back foot. It beats him and is gone. India are 6 down and still more than 80 away. A little bothering time now

Meanwhile, Pandya is showing positive intent and hitting the balls. He is 22 off 17 balls and is not letting pressure come on the team.

And the Indian maestro has brought up another fifty. He is powering this chase very well. A 61-ball fifty for Kohli as India are on track to chase this. Kohli has been very patient. Just 2 fours and a six in his innings so far. But Kohli would be knowing that his work is only half done. 

Another wicket for Australia and Axar Patel has been run out. A big mix-up between Axar and Kohli and the former has been caught well short of his crease. Very good fielding from Smith and a beautiful piece of work from Carey. India are 4 down. No Suryakumar for India even now as Pandya comes in. I think he has been given the role of a finisher tonight as he fell on golden ducks coming to bat early in the previous two ODIs.

And KL Rahul has gone after being set for a good knock. He did not get the middle of the bat on this fuller-length ball as it went to long-on. He was looking to free his hands but is gone for 32. Axar comes in ahead of Surya. Maybe because of left-right combination.

We are over halfway mark in this match and India are going well. The stand between Kohli and Rahul has gone past fifty as they continue the good work. Rahul has hit a straight six off Starc in the 27th over and he has started to free his arms.

The pair is keeping India on track. But Rahul is not able to strike at a good run rate. He has made 15 runs in 35 balls, while Kohli is at 33 from 38. Rahul should step on the paddle now

The Men in Blue are going well, just like Australia. But they should not lose wickets like the Aussies did. Kohli and Rahul are in the middle as India have crossed 100 before 20 overs end.

A mixed sort of start for both India and Australia. While India are little shy of run-a-ball, Aussies have managed to get both the Indian openers. Kohli and Rahul are in the middle and some balls are spinning well.

Zampa has struck and got the other set Indian opener. This was a great review from Australia. Pitched full on near his legs and the only question was is it bat first or toe first. Review confirms toe first and it crashes on leg stump. India two down and Rahul comes ahead of Surya

He lives by the sword and dies by the sword. This is Rohit's favourite shot as it fetches him runs. But this time the pull has got his wicket. Abbott pitched this one on short of a length as Rohit played a pickup pull. But it goes straight to the square leg fielder as India lose their 1st wicket.

Australia have brought Adam Zampa into attack in the 9th over. Sharma has hit a six over long-on as Zampa goes for 10 runs in his first over.

India have made a good start to the chase. They have made 31/0 in 6 overs. Gill has struck two boundaries and a six off Starc. He is batting really well at 22 at the moment.

And India have begun their chase of 270 runs. Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill will look for a good start and avoid the threat of Mitchell Starc.

And Australia are bowled out for 269 in 49 overs. An inning full of pendulums swinging between both sides. Set batters lost their wickets but the Aussies kept ticking the scoreboard. This wicket looks a bit slow so 269 can be a good score here. Australia started well with Head and Marsh continuing their assault. But Hardik Pandya brought India back into the game with his three wickets. Kuldeep Yadav then ripped through the middle order to keep the wicket flow going. Twin strike for India. Axar Patel has got the wicket of Abbott before Siraj removed Agar. Australia are 9 down now.

Australia's lower order is denying India get the visitors out quickly. Agar and Abbott are showing their worth as a batter. Aussies are at 231/7 after 44 overs. can they get around 270?

Australia have lost a few more wickets and now find themselves at 209/7 after 40 overs. Carey and Stoinis were going well but Axar and Kuldeep sent them back. We now move into the final 10 overs of the innings. Ashton Agar and Sean Abbott are still out. How much can they get? Or how quickly can India wrap them?

Kuldeep Yadav has got another one. What a ball that was. A proper jaffa to get rid of a well-set Carey. Pitched outside leg and turned sharply away from the left-hander to find the top of the off stump.

Axar has got the breakthrough. This partnership was growing and was already past fifty in quick time. But Axar gets one fuller angling in as Stoinis looked to go aerial. Gets inside half of the bat and Gill takes the catch on his right at long-on. Set batters are giving it away.

Pacers are back in action with Shami bowling this 34th over of the innings. He is looking to get some reverse-swing now.

It's been a tough going for Australia now. They have lost half of their side and getting a decent total will be hard if they lose a few more.

Kuldeep Yadav has struck once again. This was pitched outside off on a fuller length and dipped a bit. Labuschagne looked to clear the field but slices it up as Gill at long-off takes a comfortable one.

And Kuldeep now breaks into the wickets column. He has got Warner as Hardik Pandya completes a good catch at long-off. India getting timely wickets now. Alex Carey comes in now.

Meanwhile, the ICC rankings have come and Mohammed Siraj has lost his top spot in the ODI bowlers' chart. Josh Hazlewood becomes new No.1 ODI bowler.

This is a good battle going between the bat and the ball. Australia are at 106/3 after 20 overs with Warner and Labuschagne out in the middle.

Kuldeep has been brought by India in the 19th over. He has bowled a jaffa to Warner, which missed his outside edge by a very short margin.

Hardik Pandya scalps his third wicket as he dismisses in-form Marsh.

Australia are at 80/2 after 14 overs and it is time for drinks in the match. Australia were going hard and strong with Marsh and Head piling runs. But Hardik Pandya got Head before removing Smith to bring India back into this. Marsh still holds the key. Can India remove him sooner than later?

India have now brought their second spinner- Jadeja into the attack in the 14th over.

Hardik is on fire here in Chennai. He has now sent back the Aussie captain Steve Smith back. This was pitched on a driveable length outside off as Smith got lured into it. he got a thick edge and Rahul takes it easily.

Mitch Marsh is playing another good hand here. He has crossed 2000 ODI runs.

Hardik strikes as Head goes back after playing a good hand. This was a back-of-a-length ball as Head played an aerial cut towards the third-man. Kuldeep completes a fine catch to give India their first.

Australia are going strong with Marsh and Head yet again leading the charge. They are just over run-a-ball and both are looking for a big score. Oh no, Shubman Gill has dropped Head in the 11th over of the game off Pandya's ball. This was short as Head pulled it. Gill got to the ball but it went down from his hands.

Australia have gone past 50 in the 8th over of the game. This is good batting from Marsh and Head.

Siraj has bowled a maiden over in the 7th over of the game. This is the first maiden of the game. An over filled with short balls and on mark good-length balls. Can India cash in?

Marsh is not in the mood to play cautiously. He is yet again going behind Siraj and Shami as he is playing at over 150 strike rate. Australia at 28/0 after 4 overs with Marsh at 23 from 15 balls.

Interestingly, David Warner is not opening the innings. But this can be well understood by the fact that Marsh has built a strong CV as an opener while playing those two good knocks in the series.

There is a covering of grass at the pitch. It has rough through the middle. It can be a two-paced pitch. This is not a center pitch and one dimension is a bit short. Batting can get easier as the match proceeds further.

India are unbeaten at home since the last seven ODI series. They have not lost an ODI series since their loss to Australia in 2019. The Men in Blue will look to salvage their winning streak.

We are gonna have a bat. Looks like quite a dry surface, it is pretty hot out here. Will look to put a good total on this surface. We have had good fun and it will be exciting in the decider. We love playing in the crunch games and it's exciting. It's dry, so Ashton Agar is back. David Warner comes in for Cameron Green as he is feeling a bit unwell, so there are changes.

We were looking to field first. It's an important game and the deciders are always interesting. It's always good to put us in this situation. It's a challenge for us to come back and play some good cricket under pressure. Hopefully we can put our best foot forward. Australia are a good team and you can always test your depth. We are playing with the same team. We were thinking of playing with four seamers but the conditions here are suitable for the spinners, so we go with three spinners.
