Mumbai, Apr 16: Stating that all plans against players like Virender Sehwag could simply flop if they get going, Pune Warriors skipper Yuvraj Singh today hoped that the Delhi Daredevil have an off day tomorrow when the two teams clash against each other here.
“Sehwag is a great player. You can plan against great players but if they get going they will win the match for you. We will have our plans for him. I hope he takes its easy against us tomorrow,” Yuvraj told reporters on the eve of his team's clash against Delhi Daredevils at the D Y Patil stadium in Navi Mumbai tomorrow.
Yuvraj said while he was happy with the performance of his team, which has scored two victories in as many matches, it was important not to get complacent.
“Its nice to have two wins in a row. (It is Important) not to get complacent. Delhi is a top side and it is important to have plans against them and execute them. We got four quick wickets in the first two games. Its not going to happen everyday. But still we have to make our plans,” Yuvraj said.
On the availability of all-rounder Rahul Sharma and former South African skipper Graeme Smith, who were injured after having a collision while attempting a catch against Kochi Tuskers Kerala on Wednesday night, he said both are doing well but a final call would be taken tomorrow.
“Both are better. We are assessing them currently. We will know tomorrow whether they would play. At present they are looking good. They are not bad,” he added.
Asked about the inclusion of Australian cricketer James Faulkner, who replaces injured Sri Lankan all-rounder Angelo Matthews in the side, he said, “(We have) heard he is very talented and doing very well in domestic cricket. That is why after taking opinions from everyone we picked him in our side.”
Meanwhile, expressing satisfaction over his batting in the tournament so far, Robin Uthappa, who made a 13-ball 31 against Kochi Tuskers Kerala to lay the foundation for his team's four-wicket victory, said he was looking to finish more games for his side.
“I will try to be there and end the match. I have been out after making the situation comfortable (for my team). Hopefully, I will be able to finish a few games in the remaining 12 matches,” said Uthappa.
On Yuvraj's captaincy, he said, “I have played only two games under him. He looks after the team well. Enjoying under him so far. The atmosphere in the dressing room is very good. He's definitely changed. He's a lot more calmer, lot more funnier. I'm loving his captaincy so far.”
To this Yuvraj, who was in his usual elements today, exclaimed, “So far?? Thanks Robin.” PTI
