London, Jul 14: He has been dismissed five times by Zaheer Khan in Test cricket but England captain Andrew Strauss feels there was nothing wrong in his technique to be worried about going into the first Test against world No. 1 side India on July 21 at the Lord's.
The rivalry between paceman Zaheer, who was rested for India's tour to the West Indies, and Strauss is expected to begin in the visitors' only tour match starting on Friday against Somerset. Strauss is playing for Somerset as a guest.
“I've looked at it (technique against left-arm seam) but I don't think there is anything massively wrong,” said Strauss.
“You can put yourself into a corner on these things. You have to be clear in your mind that is the right recipe to score runs,” he said.
Strauss would not predict when one-day captain Alastair Cook will shoulder the dual responsibility of Test and ODI captaincy.
“The simple answer is I don't know (if that will be the case). I've seen a few of the lads over the last couple of weeks and it didn't feel particularly different but we never know how things will work out.
“You can't be sure and it would be arrogant for me to assume it will be exactly as it were,” he was quoted as saying by Daily Telegraph. PTI
