Melbourne, Jan 25: David Hussey was Friday dropped from the One-Day International (ODI) squad announced by Cricket Australia (CA) for the first two matches against the West Indies, being replaced by Victorian statemate Aaron Finch.
CA announced a 13-player squad for the first two ODIs against the West Indies Feb 1 and 3 at the WACA, Perth.
The Australian squad for the first and second matches: Michael Clarke (Captain), George Bailey, Ben Cutting, Xavier Doherty, Aaron Finch, Moises Henriques, Phillip Hughes, Mitchell Johnson, Glenn Maxwell, Clint McKay, Mitchell Starc, Matthew Wade, David Warner.
Commenting on the squad, national selector John Inverarity said: "Aaron Finch has been included in the squad at the expense of David Hussey. David Hussey has been dropped from the squad as we keep a constant eye on the future."
"Michael Clarke is making steady progress with the ankle he injured Jan 22 and we are confident that Michael will recover in time to be fit for the first ODI Feb 1. James Pattinson came under consideration for this squad but at the time of the selection meeting he had not bowled a ball in interstate or international cricket since Nov 24. It is anticipated that James will go to Perth to practice with the squad.
The squad will assemble in Perth Jan 29 ahead of the first.
