New Delhi, Mar 11: Team India cricketer Harbhajan Singh has denied that he has joined Punjab Police as an SSP.
After news of Harbhajan in the uniform of an SSP went viral on the internet, the cricketer said, the news was a fake and he had only posed as a police official for a Punjabi film and posted his photographs on Twitter.
“I did not even join the Punjab Police, so no question of joining directly as SSP arises”, Harbhajan said.
Harbhajan recently launched his own production house “B&M” and announced that very soon he would release two of his Punjabi movies. The photographs posing as police official, is from the scene of his upcoming Punjabi movie.
A vernacular daily picked up the photograph from Twitter and published the news that the cricketer has been appointed SSP in Punjab Police, and he would be reporting to PUnjab Police headquarters.
Several mediapersons reached the cricketer's house in Chhoti Baradari area, where his mother expressed unawareness of any such development. She said she has not spoken to Harbhajan on this as he is busy preparing for third test match against Australia in SAS Nagar.
Actually, Harbhajan had made two tweets along with his photographs in Police uniform on Saturday afternoon.
The first of which stated 'At your service guys' and the second said 'First Day at Office'.
Both the tweets carried links to his almost similar photographs, posing in a perfect turbaned police official.
It may be recalled that the unjab government had offered him the post of deputy superintendent of police (DSP) after his performance against Australia in 2002, when he took 10 wickets, but Bhajji refused the offer.
