London, Jul 17 :South Africa captain Graeme Smith says Kevin Pietersen may regret retiring from limited-overs internationals.
Smith warned the South African-born England batsman that giving up the shorter format won't be “as easy to cope with as he may think” and might leave “a big hole in his life.”
Speaking to cricket website Wisden, Smith also said Monday he had no problem if South Africa was rated as favorite for the upcoming three-match test series against top-ranked England, which will decide who is world No. 1.
Smith backed the Proteas' bowling and batting lineups over England's and said “they have home advantage and they're ranked ahead of us, but I'm not going to compete for underdog status.
If some people want to make us favorites then I'll take that as a compliment.”
