Galle (Sri Lanka), Mar 11: Mushfiqur Rahim posted the first test double-century by a Bangladeshi batsmen and was out almost immediately for 200 as his team pushed for a first-innings lead in the series-opening match against Sri Lanka.
The 24-year-old Mushfiqur's highest score in 30 previous tests was 101 against India at Chittagong in 2010.
After facing 320 balls and clouting 22 boundaries and a six, he was finally trapped leg-before wicket with Bangladesh at 550 for six in reply to Sri Lanka's first innings of 570 for four declared.
Former captain Mohammad Ashraful (190) just missed a double hundred. He added only one run to his overnight score before he edged left-arm spinner Rangana Herath to Angelo Mathews at first slip, ending a Bangladesh record 267-run partnership with Mushfiqur.
