New Delhi 26 Jun: Its a 30-year-old flashback. June 25, 1983. The day India made history by winning the World Cup at Lord's. Not even 20 per cent of people in India were aware of this event taking place when the Lords in England was jam-packed for the final showdown.
Indian team was quoted 66:1 by bookies led by Ladbrokes before the battle began. But defying all odds, India thumped West Indies in the final to emerge victorious.
The final was considered somewhat of an anti-climax, most expecting a clear West Indies win, although India had beaten them in the preliminary rounds.
They were annihilated by the Indian bowlers and reached 76/6 before giving some sort of resistance. They were all out for 140, India won by 43 runs.
Let's rewind back by 30 years and watch the glorious moments of India's 1983 World Cup victory:
