Indian batsman Rohit Sharma's mammoth 170 went in vain as Australia registered its first win against India in the five-match One Day International series. Australia beat India by five wickets as they reached the target set of 310 set by India in 49.2 overs.

Australia now leads the five match series 1-0. After the initial burst, Team India's bowlers had a rather lacklustre performance.

Here are the five turning points of the match that turned it in favour of the Aussies:

* George Bailey and Steven Smith put on a third-wicket partnership of 242 runs. The partnership came after Australia's openers David Warner and Aaron Finch were sent packing to the pavilion in the fifth over of the Aussie innings. However, the partnership between Bailey and Smith turned the face of the match in their favour.

* Both players put up an explosive display of batting with Smith scoring 149 and Bailey putting on 112 runs on the score board. Smith's average against India is 100.33, while Bailey averages 85 while playing against India.

* Australia scored a mammoth 19 runs in the 26th over bowled by Ashwin. Bailey hit a six in this over while Smith smashed two blistering boundaries in the over.

* Umesh Yadav and Bhuvaneshwar Kumar faltered in their line and length. Both bowlers gave away 96 runs in their 19-over spell. Worse, they could not crack a single Aussie wicket.

* Captain Dhoni's favourite bowler Ravindra Jadeja failed to impress in the match. Jadeja gave away 61 runs in his nine-over spell without getting a single wicket.
