There were moments when these amazing cricketers made it not only memorable and unforgettable but also milestone. India TV looks at such milestone in the history of cricket Sachin TendulkarSachin Tendulkar's farewell to cricket last week after a 24-year international career will go down as one of sport's most historic moments.Sachin Tendulkar wanted to play his 200th and final Test at his home ground so that his mum could attend. But there was no escaping the raw emotion of occasion from Tendulkar's last innings, via his farewell speech, to his final press conference. Such were the expectations from this little master that people wanted him to bid adieu to the game with a ton and he almost did, making 74 on second day of second and the last test of the series against West Indies. It wasn't just Sachin who, during his farewell speech, could not hold back his tears, even adults were seen crying. Those who watched his 200th and the last test would admit without any doubt that they will never ever attend another game of cricket that was so much the preserve of a single player.Brian LaraOn April 12, 2004 at St John's, Antigua covering Brian Lara made the highest ever Test score of 400 not out, against England, just six months after his mark was usurped by Australia's Matthew Hayden.With the series already won by the tourists he came in after an hour on the first morning and, more than two days later, he was still there for the declaration with the home side on 751-5.What sticks in the memory is the clinical way he went about bettering his previous highest score there of 375, which had been made against the same opposition. On a featherbed wicket he worked the unfortunate Gareth Batty at will, and barely an over seemed to go by without him getting a boundary and then a single.That occasion brought the whole of the Caribbean together.Shane WarneWarne claimed his 600th victim when he dismissed Marcus Trescothick at Old Trafford in the epic Ashes series of 2005. At times, the Australian leg-spinner appeared to be battling England single-handed and he finished the series with 41 wickets in a stirring show of defiance in a losing cause. In the last Test at The Oval, Warne gestured to the crowd that he was close to tears as home fans chanted ‘we only wish you were English' after a prolonged period of mocking the superstar.In 2007 in Sydney Warne announced his retirement amid much fanfare at the MCG. He held court in a packed conference room where even the chefs at the ground came in to listen to the icon. He went on to reach 700 wickets in his last Test in his home city of Melbourne.Muttiah MuralitharanThe cricket has seen the long tussle between Shane Warne and Muttiah Muralitharan to set a record for the most Test wickets which may never be surpassed. In 2007 after Warne's retirement, Muralitharan also reached a key landmark at his local ground - in Kandy. He removed Paul Collingwood to pass Warne's world-record tally. There was bedlam in the packed Asgiriya Stadium where Murali's family had gathered to salute the milestone and groups of Buddhist monks crammed on to ledges on a hill overlooking the ground, to witness the historic moment.Nasser HussianThere are few sportsmen who, like Sachin Tendulkar, go out at the very top but Nasser Hussain was one. Hussain scored a century to win a Test against New Zealand in 2004 and promptly called it a day - on 96 Tests.He had told his friends the night before that he was considering packing it all in whatever happened in the conclusion of the match. His reasoning was that a certain Andrew Strauss now deserved a place and captain Michael Vaughan was due to return from injury in the next Test.He could have played a hundred Tests but he was adamant to call it a day. What a way to go! It happens to few to go out on such a high at the home of cricket and Nasser called it absolutely correctly. It was time for a new era - one that would take England to the Ashes and beyond.
