Gautam Gambhir
In the second test against England in 2008-09, opener Gautam Gambhir cracked 179 in the first inning to help India post a total of 453. After bowling out England for 302 in their first inning , India began second inning losing Sehwag and Dravid cheaply but Gambhir hung in there to make 97, missing second consecutive century by just three runs.
Virat Kohli
Virat Kohli, who occupied the fabled No. 4 spot after Sachin Tendulkar's retirement, eased some of the anxiety with a superbly crafted century and at the end of an intriguing day of Test cricket in Johannesburg against South Africa in the first inning of the first test in the on going test series. He almost repeated the feat but fell just four runs short of what should have been his second consecutive ton.
