Sydney: A day after International Cricket Council (ICC) chief executive Dave Richardson proposed having 90-metre boundaries in the World Cup wherever possible, Australia opener Aaron Finch said that if the proposal was executed, it would not affect them as they have the “firepower” to play to the dimensions of the ground.

“When you go to some countries in the subcontinent and New Zealand, the room is not there to push them back. That will work in our favour. We have prepared well for Australian conditions. Whether they push them back or not we believe we have the firepower with bat and ball to play to the dimensions of the ground,” Finch was quoted as saying by news.com.au.

However, Finch was not convinced that the one-dayers have become batsman dominated, and said: “I never feel sorry for bowlers. As an opening batsman you are always up against a new ball so that's hard enough.

"Bowlers have become unbelievably skilled as well. Blokes bowl three or four variations of slower balls, blokes are very skilled at bowling yorkers. The four (fielder rule) out is the only thing against them (bowlers) in one-day cricket.”
