Wellington, New Zealand: New Zealand seam bowler Tim Southee is in doubt for the second cricket test against Sri Lanka, starting Saturday, because of an ankle injury.
Captain Brendon McCullum told a news conference Friday a decision on Southee's fitness would be left to the morning of the match. If he is not fit, his place in the New Zealand lineup will be taken by Doug Bracewell.
McCullum said Southee has "a slight ankle issue but we'll see how he pulls up in the morning. If he isn't playing then Doug Bracewell will come in in his place. Otherwise, I'd imagine it will be an unchanged team."
Southee took six wickets in the first test at Christchurch which New Zealand won by eight wickets.
