Canberra, Australia: England won the toss and elected to bat on Tuesday in their 50 overs tour match against the Prime Minister's XI at the Manuka Oval.

   



Captain Alastair Cook named a strong England side as the tourists sought their first win in six matches after losing the Ashes test series in a 5-0 whitewash and Sunday's first match of a four-match one-day international series.
   
Cook said "we need to win a game and we've picked a strong side to do it."
   
Players faced testing conditions with temperatures expected to reach 37 degrees.
   
The Prime Minister's XI is captained by former test fast bowler Brett Lee.
