Birmingham, Jun 7: The first day of the third test between England and West Indies was abandoned without a ball being bowled, due to steady rain at Edgbaston on Thursday.
With no prospect of play the captains abandoned the toss and neither side named its starting lineup before play was finally called off at 1430 GMT.
England wicketkeeper Matt Prior was passed fit Thursday morning after recovering from an eye infection, but West Indies batsman Shivnarine Chanderpaul is doubtful with a side strain.
