Ahmedabad, Dec 4: The Sardar Patel stadium at Motera here has turned into a virtual fortress with elaborate security arrangements in place and deployment of over 2,000 policemen, ahead of the 3rd One Day International between India and West Indies tomorrow.
The security at the stadium has been put in place for the international match, in view of the anniversary of the Babri mosque demolition and Moharam that coincide on December 6, police officials said.
“Elaborate security arrangements have been made for the match at Motera stadium on December 5 between India and West Indies,” JCP Ajay Tomar said.
He said that the vehicles and individuals would be screened manually as well as using metal detectors- at the entry point and at the parking space.
Moreover, the anti sabotage squad, policemen on horses and a company of chetak commandos will be stationed outside the stadium, alongwith the Quick Response Teams (QRT), Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) and a dog squads that would be pushed into action in case of emergency, Tomar added.
Besides this, units of state reserve police (SRP), array of CCTV cameras, the officials of city crime branch and the Anti-Terrorist Squad would also be on watch at the event, where Gujarat chief minister Narendra Modi, also the president of the Gujarat Cricket Association (GCA), is likely to remain present.
