Melbourne, Feb 1 : Former limited-overs international player Michael Di Venuto has been named new batting coach for the Australian cricket team.
Cricket Australia said in a statement Friday that Di Venuto, who played nine one-day matches for Australia, would resign his positions as an assistant coach for Tasmania and the Hobart Hurricanes Twenty20 side to will join the national team for its upcoming tour of India.
The national batting coach position was vacated when Justin Langer left to become head coach job at Western Australia in November.
The appointment comes a day after former Australia legspinner Shane Warne issued his personal blueprint for the national side and heavily criticized the current coaching and management arrangements.
Warne recommended former test players Mike Hussey and Michael Bevan as batting coaches.
