Mumbai:  Veteran cricketer Amol Muzumdar retired from all forms of the game Thursday, thereby ending his two-decade long career.

He ended with 11,167 runs from 171 first class matches at an average of 48.13, inclusive of 30 centuries. He hit 9,202 runs in Ranji Trophy, second only behind Mumbai's Wasim Jaffer who has 9,737 runs.

Muzumdar has played the most number of Ranji Trophy matches with 136 caps. His long career was punctuated with several Ranji Trophy wins and he captained the Mumbai team to the title in 2006-07.

"He was one of the finest batsmen produced by the country and I wish him the very best for the future," Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary Sanjay Patel said in a statement.
