Melbourne, Australia: Veteran batsman Brad Hodge has been called into the Australian squad for two remaining Twenty20 matches against England.
Cricket Australia said Thursday that the 39-year-old Hodge replaces all-rounder Moises Henriques, who is leaving for South Africa on Friday to join the test squad. Other members of the Australian test team arrived Wednesday into Johannesburg for a three-test series and three Twenty20 games.
Hodge, who played six tests for Australia from 2005-2008, has averaged 33.6 at a strike rate of 129.23 for the Melbourne Stars in the domestic Twenty20 competition.
Australia won the opening Twenty20 match Wednesday in Hobart by 13 runs.
The teams play again Friday in Melbourne and Sunday in Sydney to conclude England's tour of Australia that included a 5-0 Ashes series loss to the home side.
