Kolkata: The President of The Board Of Control For Cricket In India (BCCI) Jagmohan Dalmiya expired today after a clot in his coronary artery at a city hospital here.
I knew Dalmiya Ji for over 15 years. He was a mentor to us all & a true lover of the game. His guidance & passion was immense said BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur.
On 17th September Dalmiya was rushed to the hospital following complaints of chest pain.
Jagmohan Dalmiya, President of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) was on Thursday admitted to a hospital here after he suffered a serious heart attack.
The 75-year-old Dalmiya was admitted to the city's B M Birla Hospital on Thursday night after which he also underwent a coronary angiography.
“Mr. Dalmiya died of internal gastrointestinal bleeding and internal organ failure,” hospital sources said confirming the veteran cricket administrators death.
Cricket Association of Bengal sources added: “At 6 PM in the evening his condition deteriorated and shortly afterwards he suffered a massive cardiac arrest from which he could not recover.”
Dalmiya has not been keeping well for a while now and was not actively taking part in the day-to-day functioning of the BCCI.
Dalmiya took over the reins of the BCCI for a second time in March, after a gap of 10 years, when he got a walkover in the elections. But he has been ailing since then, and his health has deteriorated further over the last few weeks.
According to sources, BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur and IPL chairman Rajeev Shukla will reach here tomorrow.

Dalmiya was rushed to Kolkata's BM Birla hospital after a massive cardiac arrest.
Dalmiya also underwent a coronary angiography "clot was aspirated out to establish good flow in coronary artery".
After an initial clinical assessment, Dalmiya was taken to the cath lab at BM Birla Heart Research Institute for coronary angiography.
Dalmiya, a veteran administrator, attributed to commercializing BCCI, has not been keeping well for a while. He has not been seen at public events for quite some time.

Many in the board have expressed their concern over his inability to conduct business and feel that he should step down from the post.
75-year-old Dalmiya returned as BCCI chief after a gap of 10 years. He was replaced by Sharad Pawar who ended his dominion in the cricket board.
He returned at the helm of the bboard after Supreme Court barred then president N Srinivasan from contesting the elections.
The 75-year-old Dalmiya, who has not been keeping good health for the past few months, was rushed to the BM Birla heart Research Instittute by the family members.

“Jagmohan Dalmiya was today admitted to the BM Birla Hospital after 9 pm after he was brought here with complaints of chest pain. A medical team has been assigned and they are monitoring his health,” a hospital source told PTI today.
A seasoned cricket administrator, Dalmiya has been associated with BCCI for over three decades. He has been instrumental in bringing the Reliance World Cup in India back in 1987 and also was the man who worked to make BCCI the richest board in the world. Along with IS Bindra, Dalmiya also got the 1996 World Cup being hosted by India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

During the AGM in March this year, Dakmiya emerged as a consensus candidate and was elected president of the board for the second time unopposed while there was election for all the other office-bearer's posts.
