BCCI begins 'clean-up' drive, removes Srinivasan as ICC Chairman

New Delhi: The Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) today removed N Srinivasan as the International Cricket Council (ICC) Chairman and nominated its recently-elected President Shashank Manohar as the chief of the world cricket body. The decision was taken by the BCCI in its 86th Annual General Meeting at Cricket Centre, BCCI headquarters in Mumbai today.

Mr. Srinivasan now only remains the President of Tamil Nadu Cricket Association and according to reports, this position was also under notice. Chennai Super Kings has been suspended for two years after its officials were found guilty of betting in the Indian Premier League.

The BCCI also introduced many reforms to clean-up the world's richest cricket body. Former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, AP Shah, has been appointed as the Ombudsman to avoid "bias in decision making" and handle code of conduct complaints.

In another major decision taken in the AGM, Ravi Shastri has been removed from IPL Governing Council, which has been reduced from 13 to 5 members . These members include Rajeev Shukla, Jyotiraditya Scindia, Ajay Shirke, MP Pandove and Sourav Ganguly. Sourav Ganguly will not perform the duty of a commentator during the IPL.

Roger Binny has been removed from the selection panel citing conflict of interest issues. Gagan Khoda and MSK Prasad new members in the selection committee, replacing Rajinder Singh Hans and Binny. Rajeev Shukla has been retained as IPL chairman.

The BCCI also announced six new Test centers which include Maharashtra Cricket Association's International Stadium at Pune, Saurashtra Cricket Association's Stadium at Rajkot, Andhra Cricket Association's Stadium at Vizag, Himanchal Pradesh Cricket Association's Stadium at Dharamsala, Madhya Pradesh Cricklet Association's Holkar Stadium at Indore and Jharkhand State Cricket Association's Stadium at Ranchi.

Board Secretary Anurag Thakur said that due shortage of Test venues, the current decision has been taken.

It was decided that the General body of the BCCI will meet every quarter. Professional appointments will be made to strengthen the governance of the BCCI based on the report to be submitted by Deloitte.

The Affiliation Committee will consist of Mr. Anurag Thakur, Mr. Prakash Dixit and Mr. Anshuman Gaikwad. Amendments proposed to the rules and regulations of the BCCI were approved unanimously

The BCCI also announced the annual player contract for 2015-16.

Grade A : MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli, R Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane.

Grade B: A Rayudu, Rohit, M Vijay, S Dhawan, U Yadav, Ishant, C Pujara, M Shami, S Raina, Bhuvneshwar

Grade C: A Mishra, A Patel, S Binny, W Saha, M Sharma, V Aaron, K Sharma, R Jadeja, KL Rahul, D Kulkarni, H Singh, S Arvind.
