Mirpur, Bangladesh: Bangladesh's Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan each hit half centuries to steer the hosts out of early trouble and reach 190-6 at tea on the first day of the first test against Sri Lanka on Monday.
Both scored 55, with Rahim to resume after the break with Sohag Gazi, who was not out 21.
The twin fifties guided Bangladesh toward a competitive total after they lost four quick wickets in the opening session. Shaminda Eranga (3-49) was the most successful of the Sri Lanka bowlers after they won the toss and elected to bowl to exploit pitch moisture.
Angelo Mathews, Suranga Lakmal and Rangana Herath took one wicket apiece and kept the pressure.
