Bulawayo, Aug 21: Bangladesh skipper Shakib Al Hasan struck 79 runs along with compatriot Mahmudullah (60 not out) to give his country a consolation win in the fifth ODI against Zimbabwe. The host country has won the series 3-2.
Playing first, Bangladesh made 253 for 6. In reply, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 160 runs with Mahmudullah taking three wickets for 13 runs.
The Zimbabwe bowlers, after their captain Brendan Taylor opted to field, lacked consistency which helped Bangladesh to amass a sizable score.
Walking in at No. 5 and watching his team down at 127 for 5 in the 30th over, Shakib smashed the Zimabwe bowlers to set up a satisfactory score.
In reply, Zimbabwe batsmen floundered. Only Forster Mutizwa and Waller kept the fight going.
