Chittagong, Bangladesh: Zimbabwe captain Elton Chigumbura won the toss and sent Bangladesh in to bat Friday in the series-opening limited-overs international.
Bangladesh, coming off a 3-0 sweep of the test series, gave legspinner Sabbir Rahman an ODI debut. Paceman Al-Amin Hossain returned to the national team after having his bowling action tested in Chennai.
Mashrafe Bin Mortaza will lead Bangladesh in the five-match ODI series, with the national board introducing split captaincy for test and one-day teams.
Bangladesh is yet to win any ODI in 2014, losing 12 and having one washed out.
Pace bowler Solomon Mire will make his debut for Zimbabwe.
