Melbourne: India registered its second consecutive T20 win against Australia clinching the three match series 2-0 at Melbourne today. The hosts needed 185 runs to win 2nd T20I.
Chasing a target of 185 runs, Aussies scored 157 runs for the loss of eight wickets in stipulated 20 overs.
Australia managed 157 for seven in 20 overs, falling short by 27 runs. Aaron Finch scored 74 but the captain ran out of support from the other end as visiting spinners Ravindra Jadeja (2-32), Ravichandran Ashwin (1-27) and Yuvraj Singh (1-7) shone bright.
Earlier, India posted a strong 184 for three against Australia in the second of the three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) here on Friday.
Openers Rohit Sharma (60 in 47 deliveries) and Shikhar Dhawan (32 in 22) provided a 97-run partnership in 11 overs till the latter's dismissal.
Later, Virat Kohli scored a quick-fire 59 not out in 33 deliveries as India mustered 98 runs in the final 10 overs.
For Australia, James Faulkner and Glenn Maxwell picked up a wicket each, while Dhawan was run out.
Earlier, Australia captain Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to bowl against India in the second of the three-match Twenty20 International (T20I) series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) here on Friday.
India are unchanged from the previous game whereas Australia have made six changes to their playing XI. For the host side, Nathan Lyon, Andrew Tye and Scott Boland made the T20 debut today. John Hastings and Glenn Maxwell have also returned to the team after missing the first match.
The inconsequential third T20I is to be played on Sunday in Sydney.
