Perth, Jan 30: Australian skipper Michael Clarke is expected to be fit for the ODI series against West Indies beginning Friday at the WACA ground, says pacer Clint McKay.

Michael Clarke missed the fifth ODI against Sri Lanka after rolling his ankle at training on the day before the game.

Clarke arrived in Perth early for Friday's opener, landing on Monday afternoon ahead of the main group in order to best prepare for the double-WA fixture, with a second clash on Sunday before the series moves to Canberra's Manuka Oval.

McKay said he was confident Clarke would be fit to return for Friday's game.

"I just saw him up in the reception then and he's looking as fit as ever, walking fine," McKay said.

"I'm sure (on) Friday, he'll be the first one out there, leading us out as the great skipper he is."

Australia's battle with Sri Lanka ended on a sour note as the visitors took a 2-0 sweep in the Twenty20 Internationals to follow the 2-2 result in the preceding ODI series.

McKay said this week's series against the West Indies loomed as an opportunity to make amends.

"West Indies is a great cricket team and a very dangerous one in the short formats, which we saw at the Twenty20 World Cup," he said.

"It's a big game for us and one that we're looking forward to after the Sri Lanka series.

"It did hurt a little bit, obviously, not winning the series, but we played well down in Hobart to draw the series 2-2. That was all we could achieve and we got the job done.

"That gives us a bit more momentum coming into this series."
