India's young and dynamic batter Tilak Varma will be making his ODI debut for India in the Super Four clash of the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 against Bangladesh at the R Premadasa Stadium in Colombo on Friday, September 15. The 20-year-old batter who was a part of India's U-19 squad that finished as the runner-ups of the U-19 World Cup 2020 in South Africa has made rapid strides recently in the domestic tournaments, including the Indian Premier League (IPL).
The Andhra Pradesh-born made his T20I debut recently during India's tour of the West Indies. He has already played seven games for the Men in Blue in the T20I circuit and hence there is most likely going to be less pressure on him on his ODI debut. His T20I debut came in Tarouba at the Brain Lara Stadium in Tarouba, Trinidad.
India have made five changes to their playing XI and included Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Shami, Shardul Thakur, Tilak Varma and Suryakumar Yadav whereas the Shakib Al Hasan-led side has made only one change in the form of Tanzid Hasan. India have already qualified for the summit clash and will meet Sri Lanka in the finale on Sunday, September 17 at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. India is the only team that has not lost a single game in the ongoing continental tournament.
The Dasun Shanaka-led side sealed its final berth by defeating Pakistan in a last-ball thriller on Thursday and won the contest by two wickets.
