Mumbai: Arjun Tendulkar has been picked in the Mumbai Under-16 squad after a brilliant all-round performance in the Payyade Trophy.

The teenage son of the most famous name in Indian cricket smashed a memorable ton and followed it up with a four wicket haul.

Playing on a ground named after his father - Sachin Tendulkar Gymkhana Grounds - Arjun blasted 106 in just 156 balls with 16 fours and two sixes.

The left hander, whose style resembles Yuvraj Singh in his pomp, made almost 50% of the team total of 218.

It would have been even more apt if he was playing for Sachin Tendulkar XI, which is one of the teams in the tournament.

Instead, Arjun was representing Sunil Gavaskar XI against Rohit Sharma XI.

He later grabbed four wickets with his left arm fast medium bowling. Legendary left arm paceman Wasim Akram gave the lad some tips earlier this year which appear to have helped him.

Arjun was also seen bowling to the England batsmen in the nets at Lord's during the 2015 Ashes series.

One local newspaper even called him England's secret weapon against Australia.

Arjun is 16, an age when his father was already playing for India.

If he continues his impressive form, he is sure to follow in his father's footsteps sooner or later.
