Colombo, Oct 5 : Cricket experts are shocked at the behaviour of some Pakistani players after they lost to Sri Lanka by 16 runs in the ICC World Cup T20 semifinal here on Thursday night.
Shahid Afridi was cleam bowled by Rangana Herath in the 15th over. A furious Afridi went to the dressing room, and he smashed his bat and helmet out of frustration.
Umar Akmal, at the non-striker's end in the 17th over wanted to change his gloves. He sought umpire Simon Taufel's permission, but the latter disallowed him. But, Akmal went on to change his gloves.
All this happened in the presence of Pakistani team sitting in the dugout. TV commentator Nasir Hussain, a former England captain, was shocked on seeing Akmal defying the umpire. Akmal was fined 50 per cent of his match fees because of level 2 offence by the ICC.
On the second ball of the last over, Akmal failed to make a run on Kulsekara's ball. He sat down on the wicket holding his head in hands.
On the last ball of the match, Akmal could make only one run, and Pakistan lost by 16 runs. Akmal was seen on TV camera hurling abuse.
