Kolkata: The secretary of the unsanctioned Cricket Association of Bihar (CAB) Aditya Verma on Saturday threatened to file a contempt of court case against BCCI if the parent body doesn't allow the date of AGM by February 12.
"If BCCI does not announce the date for its Annual General Meeting by February 12, I shall file a contempt of court case against them," Verma, the face of anti N Srinivasan camp comprising of AC Muthiah, Lalit Modi IS Bindra and Shashank Manohar, told reporters here.
The Supreme Court in its January 22 order on IPL scam directed the BCCI to hold its AGM for electing office bearers within six weeks. If the date of AGM is not declared by February 12, it cannot be done within the stipulated six weeks time.
Besides, Verma claimed if Srinivasan files nomination for the post of BCCI president without waiting for Justice R M Lodha committee report, merely by selling IPL franchise Chennai Super Kings (CSK), he will be committing contempt of court.
CSK cannot be sold pending probe, he said adding even if the franchise is sold, Srinivasan cannot contest until the probe is over.
The apex court has set up a judges committee under former CJI Lodha to decide on the punishment in the IPL scam that can threaten the future of CSK and Rajasthan Royals. The secretary of the unrecognized Bihar body urged former BCCI presidents like Sashank Manohar, IS Bindra, Sharad Pawar and Jagmohan Dalmiya to sit together and decide about a new committee for the cricket board.
Incidentally banned former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi in one of his tweets had claimed that he is funding Verma's battle against Srinivasan. "Cricket is a great game and those who brought bad name to it should go. Any other person would have quit BCCI after the Supreme Court's ruling," Verma said. Verma said he wants to meet Dalmiya on Sunday.
The CAB hasn't yet confirmed whether Dalmiya would meet Verma or not.
