Mohali: Australia made a challenging total of 193/4 against Pakistan in the 26th match of the ICC World T20 Championship at the PCA Stadium here in Mohali today.
Earlier, Australian captain Steven Smith won the toss and elected to bat first against Pakistan in the crucial T20 clash.
Australia was at one time struggling at 57/3, when Steven Smith (61 not out from 43 balls) came in to bat and made a swift 62-run partnership with Glenn Maxwell who smashed 30 runs off just 18 deliveries.
Smith then made another speedy partnership of 74 runs with Shane Watson (44 off 21 balls) who hit four 4s and three sixes.
Other than Wahab Riaz (2 for 35) and Imad Wasim (2 for 31), no Pakistani bowler could take wickets or prevent Australian batsmen from scoring runs.
It is a do-or-die situation for Pakistan if they have to stay in the tournament. Not only they need to defeat Australia today but also pray for India’s loss against Australia coming Sunday.
